October 19-26, 2019
Toscana, Val d'Orcia
Run by award-winning director and acting coach Terry Ross and award-winning screenwriter and producer Lisa Bruhn, the program will include 12 hours of acting training as well as starring in a movie filmed on location in Tuscany in a role written specifically for you! In all, this week promises to be a learning experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
While in Tuscany, you’ll stay at the highly acclaimed La Foce, https://www.lafoce.com/en/, home to world-renowned gardens and architecture and offering what the New York Times calls “echoes of history at a Tuscan estate.” And, while classes and filming are at the center of this experience, there still will be time for an on-site Italian cooking class, visits to nearby Tuscan hill towns of Pienza and Montalcino, a winery tour, and visits to film locations for The English Patient and Under the Tuscan Sun. This week is sure to fill all your creative, culinary and sightseeing desires!!
Explore our website to learn more about the classes, schedule and surrounding location, and then contact us for more information. We believe that whether you are an accomplished actor or just starting out, our Tuscan Art of Acting in and Making a Film is perfect for you. All we ask is that you love acting, film and Tuscany!
When it comes to filmmaking, location is everything, and the setting for this week’s classes delivers everything – and more.
First, your stay at the historic La Foce estate will feel like a week spent within a living movie set. Originally restored by the writer Iris Origo and her husband Antonio in the 1920s and 1930s, La Foce was a safe harbor for both escaped British prisoners of war and refugee children from Rome during the worst of World War II. After the war, the Origos restored the gardens Iris and English gardener Cecil Pinsent had developed over the previous two decades.
And since then, numerous farm buildings also have been restored and updated to provide modern conveniences in an inimitable Tuscan style. And what’s Tuscan style without Tuscan cuisine? We’ll also explore the region’s world-renowned culinary culture in meals out – and in an on-site Italian cooking class led by a local expert.
Though it might feel like an island, La Foce is easy driving distance from local hill towns where we’ll be touring – and filming! Pienza and Montalcino are just two of these. We’ll also visit locations for The English Patient and Under the Tuscan Sun – and enjoy a tour and luncheon tasting menu at the Poggio Antico Montalcino winery, famous for its incomparable Tuscan Brunello vintages.
A feast for all your senses This week is sure to fill all your creative, culinary, and sightseeing desires. Contact us for more information and to receive regular updates.
